ADDRESSING REPERCUSSIONS OF GENERATIONAL TRAUMA WITH LATINX IMMIGRANTS & FIRST GEN CLIENTS UTILIZING THE EMDR THERAPY FRAMEWORK.

This course highlights the work with Immigrants & First Gen clients and their trauma related
issues. It provides us with elevated skills to best address their history, which can be relevant to
their current presentations in sessions, even if these are perhaps not obviously seen. This
training goes beyond technique-offering you tools to navigate the complex intersections of
identity, displacement, intergenerational trauma and cultural adaptation. It will equip you with
effective EMDR treatment interventions to address immigration-based trauma with excellence.
This training includes 12 EMDRIA CEs. Access to 12 continue education credits is also
obtainable. NBCC CEs are available for those interested in acquiring them. A link to

EMDR ADVANCED TRAINING LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Participants will be able to list 3 key areas of concerns when preparing Latinx Immigrant or
    First Gen clients for EMDR therapy
  2. EMDR trained therapists will learn to demonstrate strategies to build rapport with Latinx
    clients, particularly when addressing intergenerational trauma, immigration-related stress, or
    systemic oppression.
  3. Participants will develop skills to conceptualize under a multicultural lens when assessing
    Latinx clients to appropriately target immigration and generational trauma for history
    gathering in phase 1 of EMDR therapy .
  4. Participants will identify at least 3 effective strategies to implement in EMDR phase 2 when
    preparing Immigrants and/or First Gen Clients for EMDR reprocessing work.
  5. EMDR clinicians will be able to apply at least 2 effective strategies to address blocking beliefs,
    levels of dissociation, and somatic abreactions within the EMDR desensitization reprocessing
    phase.
  6. EMDR trained therapists will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of EMDR interventions in
    Latinx communities through culturally sensitive outcome measures and client feedback.
